It was set to be a royally good racing weekend. But as is tradition for a great British bank holiday weekend, the rain put play to much of this year’s Nostalgia Nationals action.

The event got underway at midday on Friday 5th May with the Run What Ya Brung session. The rain held just long enough for 122 vehicles to run the quarter mile with 296 runs in total.

Saturday started with great promise with participants looking forward to catching a glimpse of the Coronation on the big screen, and anticipation for some great track action. Sadly, the day was a washout with no runs on the track at all and a field of rather soggy campers. For those who were keen to watch the Royal proceedings, the Coronation was screened in the undercover bar area. It was certainly a welcome relief for many!

By Sunday, the skies had cleared, and despite being rather boggy underfoot, the track dried and the fire-up lanes filled. With a backlog of class eliminations, the track team kept the event running with one shot qualifying, followed by the eliminations finishing at 6pm.

Well done to the NSRA team for another great event. Despite the weather, a good weekend was had by all!
