This year’s NSRA Hot Rod Supernationals on the 10th – 13th of August 2023 was another fine representation of the thriving hotrod, custom car and American scene here in the UK. With a full show field, a cruise out, live entertainment and American hotrodding guests, the show lived up to its name as the premier pre-1972 hotrod and custom car show in Europe!

The 32nd NSRA Hot Rod Supernationals got underway on Thursday 10th August with participants arriving and enjoying a chilled-out day catching up with friends and fellow NSRA club members.

Friday is a chance for participants to peruse the trade stands, collect their goody bag and purchase their event T shirts from NSRA Hospitality. The ClassicLine team were also on hand in NSRA Hospitality to help with any hotrod, street rod, custom car, and American car insurance questions, as well as discussing the benefits of insuring through the NSRA’s dedicated insurance scheme with ClassicLine.

This year, we shared the marquee space with two special American guests. Fresh in the from west coast of the USA, it was a delight to welcome Lucky Burton from Luckys Speed Equipment and Piero De Luca of Mad Fabricators. Both Lucky and Piero bought merchandise to sell and spent many hours signing posters and talking selfies with NSRA members. The guests were joined by the voice of hotrodding, John Price, providing the commentary for the weekend.

On Friday evening, participants were entertained by sounds from Lady Luck Lexy & The Riverside Boys, Retro Electro, and The Shamen frontman, Mr C.

Saturday is always a busy day and this year’s Cruise was organised by the fantastic folk at the A602’s. Over 200 cars left the site for a cruise to The Cricketers Pub at Weston followed by an optional visit to Cars on the Green in Stotfold. Mad Fabricators, Piero De Luca, joined the cruise in a 1933 Ford Coupe on the way there, then a trip back in a Rover P3. Saturday afternoon followed with a very informative talk on building your rod or custom to be IVA approved. Don’t forget that if your car is currently in build, having your vehicle insured on a laid-up policy with ClassicLine is sensible given the amount of time and effort you will have invested in your project.

The evening entertainment was courtesy of The Eliminators, Kopy Katz, and The Firebirds, followed by dancing late into the night with DJ Grant Pinney!

Sunday is the main show ‘n’ shine day and the show field was full as far as the eye could see with an exciting mix of pre-1972 hotrods, street rods and custom cars. Facing the main arena there was a great display of 1940 Fords, Fordsons, and Ford Model T’s. It was also refreshing to see the NSRA trying something new this year. We particularly welcomed the initiative to reduce single use plastics and a variation to Sunday’s show field layout. After 32 years, it’s great to keep things looking fresh.

For the ClassicLine team, we always love catching up with clients and friends. Sunday’s show and shine is of course our highlight of the event, and this year we awarded our trophy pick to Dave Rothwell’s stunning 1939 Chevy Pickup. Keep an eye out for a feature on this car coming soon!

We hope you enjoy the photos, and if you would like to find out more about the NSRA’s dedicated insurance scheme with ClassicLine, please call us on 01455 639 000 or visit our contact us page.
