With the recent glorious weather, albeit observed from the inside of an office window, the crisp, dry, hazy morning of Sunday 6th April provided a brisk reminder that we were only just into spring… As a TVR insurance specialist, the annual TVR Car Club Season Opener event is one of our favourite early season car shows.

Swapping shorts for trousers before scraping the van’s frosty windows and a brief jaunt up the M69 and M1, we were greeted by Corrine of the TVR Car Club, who directed us into the grounds of Wollaton Hall. Setting up alongside the TVR Car Club stand, at the base of a sloped boulevard of tree-lined lawns, the show opened to a vista of Wollaton Hall atop of its hill.

Wollaton Hall on the outskirts of Nottingham has been home to industrialists, barons, Batman (Wayne Manor – Dark Knight 2012) and today, a cracking venue to see TVR Car Club members and their cars. By 10am, TVRs of all years lined both sides of the lawn. From Granturas to Chimaeras to Typhons, A spectacular sight to see, with some even arranged in the chronological order of manufacture.

Throughout the day we had the opportunity to speak with an array of people who are true enthusiasts of their marque. As an insurance provider for the TVR Car Club and having been a TVR insurance specialist for over 35 years, this is an important event for us as we assist members with finding the best insurance policy for their cherished TVR, but this is also a significant year for the TVR Car Club which is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2025. Formed in 1965, the club has grown to become one of the premier single-marque car clubs in the UK, with a membership of over 5,000 and affiliated clubs around the world. With several celebratory events planned throughout the year, we look forward to supporting the club and its members throughout this diamond anniversary year.

What a great event, with great people and an impressive backdrop – well worth checking out if you haven’t been before.
