Following on from the successes of Festival of the Dead, The Car Show in 2023, the team at ClassicLine Insurance and MoreThanPolish desperately tried to find a suitable alternative venue for a return show in 2024.

The perfect venue was found, but sadly our preferred dates were not available this year, so we made the difficult decision to defer the event until 2025. This left us with a conundrum. Do we not do anything in 2024, or should we do something that was a little scaled back to keep the event in everyone’s mind until 2025? It had to be the latter option, an informal event at a fascinating venue.

Industry & Supply in Weedon Bec, Northamptonshire, was suggested, and because of the venue’s history as the former Royal Ordnance Depot and its setting within historic Weedon Bec, we decided to host a breakfast meeting at this quirky venue. Breakfast of the Dead was created!

The aim was the same as the inaugural Festival of the Dead, The Car Show; a gathering of cars whose manufacturer is no longer in production. Just a nice informal breakfast meet, and an opportunity for vehicle owners and enthusiasts to have a chin wag over a spot of breakfast. Sunday the 12th of May 2024 was booked, keeping everything crossed for a fine day as 2024 has been a bit challenging so far.

Thankfully, we needn’t have worried. The team arrived at Industry & Supply on a gloriously sunny morning, excitedly looking forward to seeing a collection of cars not often spotted together. In fact, we were delighted by the attendance! Participants enjoyed a great collection of Saab models, Rovers, Triumphs, Monaro’s, Mini’s, Imps, a Scimitar, classic MG’s, a stunning Commer, and a beautiful white Plymouth. An exceptional Van den Plas joined the fun along with a lovely Austin Healy, and TVR Chimera turned heads as the sound of its burbling V8 engine reverberated off the historic buildings. Another car that stood out was the interesting Daewoo. It’s easy to forget sometimes that these well-known cars aren’t made anymore. We were very lucky and privileged to see so many dead marques gathered together!

As with all great days out, it was over too quickly, and by midday most had ventured off home. On behalf of all of us at ClassicLine Insurance and MoreThanPolish, we would just like to say a huge thank you to all who attended. A big thank you also goes to Shaun at The Army Benevolent Fund for joining us at Breakfast of the Dead. As our chosen charity and the national charity of the British Army, providing a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families, if like us, you were inspired by their incredible work, you are welcome to make a donation here –https://armybenevolentfund.org/donate/make-donation/
