Goodwood’s Classic Car Sunday has to be one of the best classic car breakfast meets on the calendar. With so many shows taking place across the country on a sunny summer Sunday, what makes this breakfast meet worth the early start? This year’s event took place on Sunday 2nd August 2026, and once again it didn’t disappoint.
It’s free to attend
Yes, you’ll need to remember to register your vehicle at the beginning of the year, but where else can you visit the famous Goodwood Motor Circuit, park on the track or in the paddocks, and soak up the atmosphere… all completely free?
Something for every classic car enthusiast
Open to all vehicles registered before 1st January 1986, Classic Car Sunday attracts an incredible variety of cars, bikes, even vintage buses! From pre-war veterans and concours classics to American cars, hot rods, retro head turners and modified classics, there’s something to admire wherever you look. This year’s event was thoughtfully organised into themed areas, with dedicated displays for pre-war vehicles and a paddock dedicated to BMC and British Leyland models.

The drive is part of the experience
Our roving reporter attends every year and always arrives around 7am, before the event officially starts. You’ll spend a short time in a holding area before being guided into the main display, but the early start has its rewards. Quiet roads, beautiful countryside and a drive through the Goodwood Estate make the journey just as enjoyable as the event itself. Plus, there’s something quite special about waiting in the holding area with other enthusiasts, all chatting in anticipation for the main event.
It’s easy to see why Goodwood’s Classic Car Sunday remains one of the highlights of our roving reporter’s show calendar. Events like this are exactly what owning a classic car is all about, getting out on the road, meeting fellow enthusiasts and enjoying using your vehicle.
