Following the successes of the inaugural event in 2022, the Rootes Heritage Day was back at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon, on Sunday 23rd July 2023. Hosted by our friends at the Rootes Archive Centre Trust, the ClassicLine team were invited to attend. We were of course delighted to be there and be on hand to assist with classic car insurance quotes and answer questions.
After the previous day’s monsoon weather conditions, we were a little worried about the forecast for the day’s activities. But someone was certainly looking out for the team as thankfully, it turned out to be a lovely day. Anyway, enough with the weather!
The show featured an array of cars from different manufacturers within the Rootes Group including Humber, Singer, Hillman, Clan, Sunbeam, Simca and Talbot models. The Rootes car clubs each brought along something different, and notably there were two Sunbeam Venezia’s on show! These cars are so rare it’s not very often you see one, never mind two in the same place at any one time. Classic heavy commercial vehicles were also well represented, including a Commer Coach which brought back some fabulous childhood memories.
As usual, the day passed far too quickly but we had a great time meeting clients, potential new customers and spending time with the team at the Rootes Archive Centre Trust. It is always great to be in the company of Rootes car clubs and fellow classic car enthusiasts. Please do check the archive centre out at https://www.rootesarchive.org/. You will be amazed by what the team has archived and preserved, and the history that has been retained as part of this amazing UK motoring heritage centre.
