Breakfast meets have taken the classic car enthusiast world by storm over the past decade, with new events continually popping up on the motoring calendar. Among the most anticipated is Goodwood’s Classic Car Sunday, a must-visit for any pre-1985 classic car owner — and that’s exactly where our roving reporter found themselves on Sunday 3rd August 2025.

Highlight of the summer for many, this free-to-attend event brings together a broad mix of, from pre-war vintage vehicles, classics, American classics and hotrods, and retro 70s and 80s cars. As long as your vehicle was registered before 1st January 1985, it qualifies. Its this wide remit of vehicles, combined with the laid-back atmosphere and Goodwood’s iconic backdrop, that makes Classic Car Sunday so great and classic car enthusiasts like us return year after year.

If you’ve been before, you know the drill. Register your car at the beginning of the year. Wait several months to see if your registration has been successful, then set your alarm extra early on the day to beat the traffic. Yes, that sometimes means waiting in a holding area before the gates open, but it’s all part of the fun.

This year, participants were allocated an area to park; we were given Paddock 3. This area is usually reserved for the race teams on Goodwood’s signature event days so it’s always a treat to park here. Plus, it’s right next to the vendor which sells rather tasty breakfast rolls!

This year’s event celebrated 100 years of the Rolls Royce Phantom, 75 years of the Aston Martin DB2, 60 years of the DB6, and 55 years of the Range Rover with curated displays around the site. These headliners were accompanied by countless other showstoppers that caught our eye, such as a rare VW Type 14A “Hebmüller Cabriolet” and the ochre-yellow Porsche 914-6. In the paddocks it had to be the pale blue 1953 Singer roadster and the stunning moss-green 1951 Cadillac Series 62 parked next to it! But whether you find yourself parked in the paddocks, along the track, or on the tree-line roadways, it felt like every car was part of the main event.

We’ve shared some of our favourite photos from the day below — we hope they inspire you to register for 2026. Keep an eye on Goodwood’s events calendar; these breakfast meets are always worth the early start.
