Classic car owners across the UK took to the roads on Sunday, 27th April 2025, in celebration of Drive It Day in what has now become a tradition in the classic motoring calendar. As a classic car insurance specialist, it is a delight to hear how ClassicLine Insurance clients are using their cherished vehicles and enjoying the opportunity to head out for a day of community and driving.

Drive It Day commemorates the 1900 “Thousand Mile Trial” – a landmark journey designed to demonstrate the viability of motor transport. This year participants joined coastal convoys, scenic routes and special events, uniting in their shared passion for automotive heritage. Enthusiasts showcased everything from Riley Kestrels and Lotuses to cherished Hillmans, Triumphs, and Jaguars – each lovingly maintained and proudly driven.

In our recent client newsletter, we asked to see your Drive It Day photos – and what a response we had! It is a great pleasure to be able to share some of your highlights in the selection of images below. We always love talking to clients about their vehicles, but to see you out and about enjoying your classic cars is what makes our job so great. Drive It Day reflects everything we value: heritage, enthusiasm, and keeping the motoring spirit alive for generations to come.

So, it’s over to you. This is Your Drive It Day 2025

Had a great day in conjunction with the South East Lotus Owners Club and a few other clubs. A nice run through the beautiful Essex countryside, finishing up at Harbour Lights Restaurant, Titchmarsh Marina, Walton on the Naze. The weather was definitely on our side!

I met up with friends from Club Triumph's Peninsula Group at Cornwall Services near Bodmin on the A30 for a drive to Callington for lunch. After that we visited the historic site of Kit Hill between Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor. To show that every day is a school day, I discovered that Kit Hill is in fact a 'Marilyn', defined as a hill with a drop of at least 150 metres on all sides. The originator of this classification chose the name as a punning contrast to the Scottish Munro, which is a mountain above 3000 feet in maximum elevation.

Here’s my 1971 Hillman Hunter taken on Drive It Day at a very busy Newlands Corner car park near Guildford in Surrey!

We tried to chase a pack of Lotuses (Loti?) from Colchester to Walton on the Naze, via Harwich. Here we are resting in Mistley. Tide in, sun out, bliss.

We took our TVR Chimaera 450, insured by you, to the Bicester Scramble event via a lovely rural cross country route from home in Stratford upon Avon.

Our friends (Dick & Kay) in their Riley Kestrel and us (Robin & Jacki) in our MG Magnette visited the RAF Ingham heritage centre near Lincoln. A round trip of approx. 120 miles. We saw a few other cars and waved frantically!

Simon

A drive to Killerton House in Devon.

We were fortunate enough to be asked to drive out and display my cherished vehicle at the British GT taking place at Silverstone. Great day and very honoured.

We completed a 130 mile drive around the Lincolnshire Wolds in our 1936 Riley Kestrel in the company of our friends in their MG Magnette. We stopped for lunch at the Polish WW2 Bomber Squadron memorial just north of Lincoln, where our Riley was in period with the location.
