The UK’s hotrod and custom car show season is officially open! The NSRA Southern Swap Meet has taken place; garages and workshops are full of exciting new treasures and reclaimed parts, and most importantly the hotrodding community is back together after the winter break.

This year’s event on Sunday 6th March was another great success for the NSRA team. The traders arrived bright and early to set up their stalls. Hundreds of NSRA members and participants braved the cold and waited patiently in line to be let into the arena. Then at 9.30am, the gates opened, and the autojumble shopping and socialising began. Armed with their shopping lists, trolley carts, and wallets of cash, participants picked up parts for their automotive projects and other vintage goodies.

One of our highlights of the day is looking around the pre-1972 rod and custom car parking area. A stunning 1938 Plymouth Coupe caught our eye, as did a modified Hillman Minx Deluxe custom. Both great looking cars! We hope you enjoy a few of our photos below…

But this year’s NSRA Southern Swap Meet also had one other very important job. It was to be the first event on the clubs 50th anniversary schedule. Originally formed in 1972, the National Street Rod Association is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2022. Yes, that is 50 years of being at the forefront of British hotrodding, and ClassicLine is delighted to have been the club’s official insurance provider for almost 30 of those historical years.

As the first show of the year, the NSRA team set up a stall to publicise information on the upcoming celebrations, including the inaugural NSRA Spring Rumble. The Spring Rumble is a members’ only series of informal drive outs and takes place across the country throughout the month of May. With so many anniversary celebrations in the pipeline, 2022 is going to be a great year to debut that car that you have been building with all those Swap Meet treasures.

We will catch up with the NSRA team next at the Surrey Street Rodders ‘Wheels Day’ on the 15th April 2022… see you there!
