This is a very exciting to blog to write! Not only was it the first big show of the year, but it was the first time our roving reporters Ford Model Y has been out for a long drive since September last year. We could not have chosen a better event to start the season off with!

The eagerly anticipated Retro Rides Weekender took place over the late May bank holiday at the historic Goodwood Circuit. It was one of the first opportunities this year that many car friends and groups would have got together for a whole weekend of cruising, on-track action, chilled out camping, and of course awesome retro cars!

This years show highlights had to be the pre-98 retro car displays that lined the roadways and paddocks of this nostalgia race circuit. One of the best things about Retro Rides and their community is the diversity of the cars and as you’ll see from our selection of photos below, there was a great mix of stock and custom vehicles. Everything from classic Mini’s to modified mid-70’s Datsuns, and Audi’s from the early 80’s through to mid-90’s Nissans. We were particularly draw to a rare Imp Californian on show with members of The Imp Club. The BMW powered ’72 Ford Courier parked up in the paddocks was stunning too, as was the restomodded VW Variant nestled under the tree canopied roadways.

Curated car displays added to the appeal of the show, including an iconic supercar lineup. We particularly enjoyed the collection of De Tomaso’s.

There was plenty to see on the track too. Saturday saw the point-to-point sprint, and Sunday it was the return of the Retro Rides Auto Solo. If you’ve ever wanted to drive round the historic Goodwood circuit, this is the event to do it at.

We were thrilled to be back at the historic Goodwood circuit. It’s been a challenging and tumultuous time over the last year, but we couldn’t be more pleased to be able to return to shows across the UK. We built on the success of our previous events by bringing together the best of the UK retro scene along with hot rods, race cars, restomods and all the huge diversity of machines that make up the Retro Rides world. It was exciting to be able to have track action on both days again this year, along with the central display paddocks, specially curated displays and visitor’s cars across the site.

For our first time at the Retro Rides Weekender, we thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a very well organised and laid-back weekend. The added bonus was the glorious weather!

The next Retro Rides event will be the Retro Rides Gathering on Sunday 22nd August 2021 at Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb. As Retro Rides’ insurance partner, we are really excited for this event and hope to see some of you there.

Enjoy the photos!
