If you are feeling the effects of a bit too much turkey and Stilton on Christmas Day, then taking a trip out on Boxing Day is just what the doctor ordered. So, armed with a packet of antacids, we took the advice and made our annual pilgrimage to the Romsey Classic Car and Bike Meet.

In aid of Prostate Cancer UK, this event has something for every enthusiast. An eclectic mix of cars and bikes are spread across two carparks in Romsey town centre, Hampshire, with more lined up along the surrounding streets. This popular event is open to all pre-1976 cars, bikes and commercials, plus pre-1986 American cars, bikes and hot rods – if you want to get a space, you have to get there early! The hard-working team of marshals do a great job managing the traffic and making sure that every available space is filled.

The quality of cars at this year’s event was very high. With an array of American cars, several MK1 Escorts, Cortina’s, classic Mini’s, VW Campers, vintage Lambretta’s and classic Triumphs to name but a few. Plus, it’s not often you see so many Jaguar E Types on show at a breakfast meet!

It’s also great to see vintage commercial vehicles out and being used, plus a star appearance from a custom Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica.

The bright, crisp weather had brought the crowds out too. Everyone enjoying some fresh air over a hot coffee, chatting about all those car related Christmas pressies they had received. Even the passing sale shoppers stopped to look around the cars.

It’s great to get out for the morning – we even made it home in time for turkey leftovers…

Many thanks to those who organise and run this event.
